The Garlic Ballads: A Novel by Mo Yan (from China-- Mo Yan is one of my favorite authors)
Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto (from Japan-- I like her other books, too)
Kiffe Kiffe Tomorrow by Faiza Guene (from France)

What an interesting list! Except for JK Rowling, I haven't heard of any of those authors. Guess I've got some research to do!
