So, I knew I wasn't going to get everything done because my list was insane. I did a lot of work and while I didn't get done what I thought I'd get done, I did get a LOT done!
1. Review books. I have 57 books to review. I'll be happy if I get 10 done. I reviewed 7. I got a few comments on the size of my backlog. That's one of the reasons why I love Bloggiesta-- even though 57 is a lot of books, the size of my backlog is smaller every Bloggiesta!
2. Deal with my Google Reader. This mainly means geting caught up on blog posts. I have over 6191 unread blogposts (OMG I KNOW.) So, I will read as many as possible, but the hard part will be heavy use of the "mark as read" button. I also want to clean out my stars. Most are books that I want to read, so I want to write at least 5 "reviews that made me want to read the book" posts. Others are videos I wanted to watch or things I wanted to pin when I was reading my reader when I couldn't watch videos or pin things. I read over 1700 posts and deleted a bunch of others. I also deleted several feeds-- some are blogs I don't really like, some that are defunct, and several that I for some reason have multiple feeds for. I cleaned out a TON of stars--over 80. Of course, I ended up just transferring most to Evernote or Pocket thanks to some super-helpful mini-challenges. I didn't write any of the "reviews that made me want to read the book though.
3. Change domain hosts. YES! I have two blogs and this took longer and was much more complicated than I thought it would be, BUT it's all done and I didn't have a lot of the negative "side effects" that a lot of people have and my blogs were only offline for about half a day.
4. Work on upcoming secret blog project-- buy domain name, work on layout, pick at least 20 themes, sketch out at least 10 blog posts. YES YES YES. I didn't think I'd get much done on this, but I bought the domain name (when I was transferring the others) and set up the basic design and about pages. I'm not sure how many themes I picked, but way more than 20. I didn't sketch out 10 blog posts, but I did preliminary notes for more than 10.
5. Clean off the bedroom bookshelf-- specifically, the library books cubby (I have too many checked out, I'll never read them all) and to-review cubby (Review and move!) and the ARC cubby (which ones am I actually going to get to?) Nope
6. Tag old posts. (Um, this probably isn't going to happen, but it's something I want to do, so let's put it on the list, ok? )Nope
7. Try again to make a video or two for Library Noise. Nope
8. Write new storytime intro posts and update the existing ones on Library Noise. Nope
9. Write that post I gotta write. Nope
10. SLJ round up. Nope
11. Do that review app. Nope

Bloggiesta Starting Line
It's Bloggiesta Time!

Obviously, not all of that's going to happen, but that's the list of stuff I *want* to do, so let's see how much we can get done, ok?

Bloggiesta!
You Guys, I am SO SAD about missing KidLitCon this year.
But... new job = extremely limited leave and with Yom Kippur earlier in the week, I just couldn't swing it. (Well, I couldn't swing KidLitCon AND Thanksgiving and as much as I love you all, Thanksgiving won.)
BUT! There'a s pretty good consolation prize for those of us left out of the fun. BLOGGIESTA! is the same weekend!
Have you guys done Bloggiesta before? It's a great weekend for bloggers.
Basically, it's a weekend to do all that blog maintenance and projects that you always *want* to do and never seem to get around to. I like it for several reasons.
1. I get a lot of stuff done. See how much I did last time?
2. It's not just for book/review blogs. Any blog can play. I think it's mostly (all?) book/review blogs that do it, but really, it could be ANY blog.
3. It's beyond the kidlit community. I feel that we're often in our own little corner of the book blogging world, which is why we're often like "what? people do what?" when the shit hits the fan. I like events like this where all the book people get together.
It's no kidlitcon, but I'm really looking forward to it. I'm already working on my list of goals...

Bloggiesta Wrap-Up
I had an ambitious set of goals. How'd I do?
First, let's talk about all the things I did that weren't on the list.
Read 2.5 books.
Folded 25 origami cranes.
Had lunch with a friend.
Got my hair cut.
Went to a birthday happy hour that turned into a girls night.
Got a mani/pedi.
Worked a full day.
Plus, there is food in my belly, my house is still standing, and my baby is still alive.
So, even without Bloggiesta, I got a lot done!
But, how'd I do on Bloggiesta? Not too bad.
Here were my goals:
Review books. I have 61 unreviewed books. I'll be happy if I review at least 10.
I reviewed 8. Close to my realistic happy goal.
Preschedule Reviews. I'd like to preschedule all of April. I'll be happy if I get next week and the week after done.
I got this week and next week kinda done! My Poetry Friday and Nonfiction Monday posts need to have the hosts filled in before they can actually post. Also, April 13's isn't scheduled yet because I want to review a verse novel that I'm not done reading yet. BUT! I have a few other posts scheduled beyond then, so yay!
Deal with my Google Reader. This involves cleaning out starred posts and reading all my unread posts. Currently, I have 2581 unread posts. I'll be super happy if I just get this under 1000, but I'll settle for reading 1000.
I read 1005, marked a few hundred more as read, and it's now down to 1690. Progress and baby steps. I didn't get finished cleaning out my stars, but I did clean out a lot of them. (Most of my starred posts are just things I want to follow up, but it's been awhile since I've gone through and done the following-up.)
Do some work on my programming blog, Library Noise. I need to write up an introduction to Toddler Storytime, come up with a post template, change some stuff on the intro to Baby Storytime, record and post a video or two, and make a rhyme page.
DONE! Ok, not the videos and rhyme page, but the rhyme page was going to be links to the videos showing me doing all my action rhymes. I didn't make any videos, but I TRIED TO. My camera was being glitchy so the audio track was a few seconds behind. But the rest got done!
I've changed my review policy on Nonfiction, but only in my head and actions. I need to get it in writing and let y'all know what's going on and why.
DONE
Change my domain registration. GoDaddy's ads are effective in that I use them because I remember they exist, but they also skeeve me out, so I would like to not use them anymore.
This is the only thing I didn't make any progress on. Hopefully this week. It's not a major deal and won't take a lot of time, it just needs to get done.
Clean up my sidebar.
DONE
All in all, not too shabby. I still have a lot of reviews to write and posts to read, but I made some progress this weekend, so I'm happy! Plus, I have really pretty toenails.

Bloggiesta Finish Line
It's time to call it a night.
Dan has been incredibly patient with me this weekend, especially given that we has a blog widower last weekend as well. As soon as these cookies come out of the oven, we're off to watch some Lost (we're still on Season 1.)
Here's how I did:
1. Read 1500 blog posts. (I'm currently 1300 behind, but surely 200 more will appear in my reader by the end of this weekend. Heck, probably by the end of today.) I'm still 1000+ behind, but I did read 1001 posts. I was obviously hindered by the large amount of posting that happened this weekend!
2. Write 65 book reviews. I wrote 4
3. Pre-schedule 2 weeks worth of reviews Uh... nope. Just tomorrow's
4. Catch up on my record-keeping YES!
5. Organize my google reader YES!
6. Add reviews to LibraryThing nope
7. Challenge posts nope
8. Tell you about my SLJ reviews couldn't do, because their website's being weird.
10. Write 10 non-review blog posts I wrote 1
11. Tag old posts, add links and pictures nope
12. Clean up the blogroll nope
Not a total bust. I knew not everything would get done, as my goals were EVERYTHING that needed to get done for the website. I would have really liked to get more of those book reviews written, but I've been having reviewing writer's block lately, and this weekend wasn't the cure. *sigh*

Bloggiesta Check In
Well, I had to go to work today, so that cut out some of my Bloggiesta time. I also realized one of my goals was impossible for this weekend (and not just for sheer numbers. I know most of mine are practically not going to happen, but this one just CAN'T happen) and thought of some more...
Basically, this blog is supposed to be a record of *Everything* I read, so I link to reviews published elsewhere. I have many reviews published in School Library Journal that I haven't linked to yet that I want to, but due to their moving to new systems, their reviews aren't online at the moment, so I can't exactly link to them, can I? (or find out if certain ones ran this June. The work copy hasn't gotten to my desk yet.) So, that goal gets delayed for now.
But, I remembered that my blog roll needs updating and that I my early posts aren't tagged (Because Blogger didn't have tagging functions back then. In fact, I'm not sure tagging exsisted 5 years ago. The internet moves so fast!) So, there are two more goals.
So far, I've been going for 9 hours.
1. Read 1500 blog posts. (I'm currently 1300 behind, but surely 200 more will appear in my reader by the end of this weekend. Heck, probably by the end of today.) I've read 768, which brings my unread posts to under 1000! Huzzah!)
2. Write 65 book reviews. I've done 2
3. Pre-schedule 2 weeks worth of reviews
4. Catch up on my record-keeping
5. Organize my google reader

Bloggiesta check in
Hours spent Bloggiesta-ing: 6
Things accomplished:
1. Google reader organized
2. 350 posts read (out of 1500)
3. 2 reviews written (out of 65)

Bloggiesta check in
Carrie wins "most helpful hint of the day" award for pointing out that if I look in Google trends, it will tell me how many blog posts I've read in a given day! Huzzah!
Anyway, I've now been Bloggiesta-ing for 2 hours. So far I have.
1. Organized my google reader
2. Read 178 blog posts.
In my non-Bloggiesta-ing time, I've been to the bank, the dry-cleaners and salon. My eyebrows no longer look like caterpillars trying to eat my face and my hair is shorter and physically lighter (in color, it's actually much darker.) Seriously, I only cut about 4 inches off (plus some thinning to deal with the weight) but I think I might have lost 5 pounds just by cutting my hair. Easiest and prettiest diet ever!

Bloggiest check in PS
Sure, I post the post and then forget a few things I wanted to say:
I'm not reading every blog post. Some get skimmed, some are showing up in my feed multiple times (especially for the blogs that are part of the bloggiesta feed that I already follow, some of the blogs I follow have weird feed issues where some posts will post multiple times.)
ALSO! I just wanted to say that in one of the posts I read today, I discovered that there is a naked Korean spa in the area! I've wanted to try one since reading about it in North of Beautiful.

Bloggiesta check in
Ok, this is just frustrating!
It's hard to accurately track how many blog-posts you've read when more posts keep getting added to your reader. In reality, my "read 1500 blog posts" means "get my google reader back down to 0."
So, I spent an hour reading posts. Yes, it didn't help that I added the bloggiesta feed to my reader. But... all the new posts and the old posts? After an hour, doing the math, it looks like I only read 3. SERIOUSLY. Oiy vey. Ah well. I know that I made a dent and will keep chipping away, slowly but surely.
I did, however, get my google reader organized. I had a lot of new blogs that weren't in folders, so now they're all filed away.
If you're interested, my folders are
Book stuff (my must read round of book blogs)
Book stuff 2 (book blogs I like but aren't "must reads")
China (blogs that cover China or Chinese language)
Friends (blogs written by my friends or people I at least know)
Local (This is a new folder I just created! It's for all my local news/happenings blogs)
Fun (This is for everything that doesn't fit into one of the above catagories.)
So, 1 hour in, I've read 3 blog posts (?!?!?!?!?!?!?) and organized my google reader.
Now, I'm off to run some errands and do something other things that have to get done. I wish I could easily read my google reader on my phone. Maybe I'll try to figure that out... hmmmm...

Bloggiesta!
Maw Books's Bloggiesta has begun!
Here's my list of impossible-to-finish tasks (I aim big! Like the cheesy poster on the wall in the home-ec room in 8th grade, "Reach for the moon, because even if you fail, you'll still land among the stars")
1. Read 1500 blog posts. (I'm currently 1300 behind, but surely 200 more will appear in my reader by the end of this weekend. Heck, probably by the end of today.)

3. Pre-schedule 2 weeks worth of reviews
4. Catch up on my record-keeping
5. Organize my google reader
6. Add reviews to LibraryThing
7. Challenge posts
8. Tell you about my SLJ reviews
10. Write 10 non-review blog posts
Here's my list of impossible-to-finish tasks (I aim big! Like the cheesy poster on the wall in the home-ec room in 8th grade, "Reach for the moon, because even if you fail, you'll still land among the stars")

Bloggiesta!
Well, I didn't get all my goals done, because my computer keeps being... stupid. It gets slow, it freezes, takes forever to reboot. It's been wonky for awhile and yesterday it just needed to be put on timeout all day so it could sit there and think about what it had done.
Now, it seems to be ok, if I don't try to do too much. Running iTunes is apparently, too much. (Amazingly, if I'm only listening to this week's Chinese lessons, then I'm ok. I'm sure the universe is telling me I need to study my Chinese more. But, I can't listen to my Chinese class and blog at the same time! My brain would explode!) So, as I blog today, I'm being surprisingly old school and... listening to my CD player. It's crazy, I know. Sadly, I only own Glee digitally.
But, I did get some stuff done. I did a lot of work my spreadsheets (and I'm working on a post on them, so you can see my full geekiness). I read about 1500 blog posts. I wrote 1 review. Not as much as I wanted, but pretty good work for about 12 hours...

Bloggiesta!
Maw Books is once again Bloggiesta, and it has started!
So, what are my goals this weekend?
Read 1000 posts on my blog reader (sadly, this is a task that can be repeated a few times.)
Review 10 books (this can also be repeated)
Preschedule 10 reviews (as can this)
I live my life on a spreadsheet, especially my reading/blogging life. I'm still working on getting my 2010 spreadsheets ready to go, so let's work on that.
I also have a few other minor tasks that need to get done, so yeah...
Let's get to work!

Bloggiesta finishing
Well, I have to say that, in the end, I only ended up only devoting about 10 hours to Bloggiesta. I had hoped to do more, but it was a rare weekend when Dan and I were both in town, so that had to be taken advantage of, plus my body wasn't letting me skimp on sleep.
This is what I accomplished during Bloggiesta-- I got my feed reader organized and down to 500 unread posts. Doesn't sound like much, but it did take me 10 hours! I had posts that were unread from mid-May! Now, I'm only about a week behind. Also, I usually spend maybe an hour, if anything, on bloggy things during the weekend, so 10 hours was a lot of time.
Anyway, there's still a good part of Sunday left, so I do plan on working on this some more, even if Bloggiesta is all done.

Bloggiesta update #3
Ok, I worked out, took a shower, walked to the movie theater, watched I Love You, Man (funny) and then walked to Thai Square, then walked home. Now back bloggiesta-ing.
Will not accomplish any goals by 8am tomorrow. But I did buy a new roof, so that has to count for something.

Update #2
So, 7.5 hours devoted to my blog reader, and I'm down to 673 posts.
In my defense, I follow a lot of China blogs and am so far behind I *just* this afternoon read most of their coverage of the 20th anniversary of Tian'anmen Square. That takes a while.
I'm now going to go take a break to work out.

Bloggiesta update
So, it's been 31 hours since Bloggiesta started.
I didn't publish these goals at the beginning, this was my mental list:
1. Write at least 15 book reviews. (I have 71 books that have been read but not reviewed. I actually have reviews written for 32 of them and notes for about 10 more)
2. Catch up on my blog reading.
3. Update my blogroll.
4. Update my Amazon widgets.
5. Get two weeks worth of pre-written reviews converted into posts to be automatically posted. I have all these reviews written for a rainy day, but when the rainy days come, they're not getting posted.
6. Post 5 book reviews, probably of Jean Estoril's Drina series.
I've only been able to devote 5 hours to this so far. Yesterday was a work day and the first day of summer vacation, so I just wanted to catch up on blog reading in between helping people. It was fairly busy, so I didn't get much blog reading done. After work, we went to temple and then today I slept in and then had 3 hours of a roofer estimate (new roof! woot!)
So far, I've gotten my blog back-reading down to 912 posts. Oiy vey.

Bloggiesta

It's noon! That means it's Bloggiesta time! I'm starting with Rebecca's Feed Reader mini-challenge. I had wanted to do this anyway this weekend-- I'm way behind and need organizing and cleaning. Here we go!
